Hey everyone,

The only thing worse than not updating is apologizing for not updating and then not updating.

Sorry, that’s just how it’s gotta be. I’ll update tomorrow, but if not, sorry, i’m just too cool.

Halo 3

So I had a pretty fun night last night, doing some vid stuff for Halo 3. The game looks like it’ll be a blast, and despite hating the whole “line standing” phenomena, it should be worth the wait.

Check out Rich DeMuro and I at the launch party.

Some day i’ll update everyone on the whole “me in New York working for CNET,” but as I’m kind of sick of blogging for a while, it’ll have to wait.

Lost creator doesn’t really create

I was reading this article in the Chicago times (or chicago mag or something) about how Lost “creator” Jeff Lieber gets an onscreen credit and tons of cash every time Lost airs. The guy wrote a pilot that was greenlighted all the way to a last executive, who felt the show was more of a rehash than innovative or interesting. He created the characters, JJ Abrahms and Carlton Cuse (and Damon Lindelof, perhaps) created the flashback idea and the mystic island scenario. The real interesting facet of the whole game is the guy sounds a little like he’s complaining, when instead of complaining, I’d take all the money I’d be getting for a show and doing whatever I feel like. If I created something that got killed, but I still took home a writing or creating credit, and still got a six figure income annually (which he probably gets if not seven figures) what would you have to complain about? You can do WHATEVER you’d like creatively and never have to worry about finances. It sounds like Lost will hit syndication, in which case the guy will NEVER have to work EVER again. He’ll get residuals for the rest of his life, and he can do anything he want’s creatively.

Seriously, so what if you’re not seen as the “real creator,” you’ve got all the cash anyone needs. Stop whining.

Forgive me for not posting lately, I’m still getting settled into my New York apartment. I’ll get done soon.
Till then, I’ll share with you this interesting vid. It’s really amazing art.

Countdown till an ad agency “comes up with this idea” all on their own? 10 seconds.

What a week

Wow, what a week to be an ex-cellphone blogger.  Not only does apple slash the price of the iPhone by $200, but Palm also killed the folio. Crazy freaking week.

A $399 iPhone makes the device really really attractive though, especially at 8gb. As soon as the software unlock starts spreading and I can plop my T-Mobile SIM in there, I’ll likely do it. Otherwise, I’ll have to contemplate the iPod Touch, although 160 GB in my pocket makes the iPod Classic pretty attractive too.

Decisions, decisions… too bad my wallet already made the biggest one of all for me: I’m not getting any new hardware this year, and probably not early next year either. Owch, the wedding, it hurts.

Car lessons learned

I’ve been trying to sell my car for a few weeks, and now i’ve learned a major lesson in car shopping:

Auto auctions are cool, but don’t settle

Going back a year, I bought my car from an auto auction. I had my dealer buy a $9000 car. He couldn’t get any of the ones I wanted, so he bought an Oldsmobile Alero for me. Looking back, the reason why one should be a little more picky is for resale. Who seriously wants to buy an Oldsmobile? Let’s be honest, the car isn’t the most popular, and as a result i had to basically give the thing away. I don’t consider myself a brand whore, but in the car market, you kind of have to be a brand whore, or else you get screwed.

Fast forward to today, and it cost me $1200 less than my loan to sell the stupid thing. Yeah, be careful car shoppers.

Ryan’s announcement of the show going on hiatus saddens me a bit. I’ll save the reminiscing for another time, but suffice it to say, the show will be missed. Thanks for the memories, the audio, and most of all, the friendship guys.
