Tech Check Daily: State of affairs
So, I’ll give you a completely transparent look at the Tech Check Daily newsroom. I’ve been dead for about two months for a few reasons: First of all, seizure. Ya, that derailed my chance at coming back in Utah. Second, Wikireview. Wikireview took literally all my time. Those out of the way, I’m going to try to go back to the february model of doing one show a day. I”m going to just do it. We’ll try to go to a weekly show at first, then back to daily.
It’s going to happen in mid-june after the iPhone launch.
Be excited.
Live test
Hey, I know we haven’t still gotten back to regularity yet, but we will post web2.0. Plus, we might even have some content for you from the show.
In the meantime, check out our live test running over at our alpha-site, thebiz. It’s our live test, running off of a test server right now. We’ll be using it for the upcoming politic2.0 event. Fun, right?
The deal.
So here’s the thing… I’ve been gone for about a month… promising I’d get a show done here and there, and here’s what i’ve come to realize… my new job is killer. WikiReview is going to be a huge success, and the subsequent companies it spawns will also be big.
At this point, the sentence could go two different ways: A) I’m leaving TCD or B ) I’m leaving new job.
Lucky for you, I’m answering with B– I’m leaving my new job.
I’m leaving the reasoning private, but in the meantime TCD will be dark for another month till I get officially “back” and then we’ll be going full-bore.
I’ve come to realize I’m a writer. I like writing, I like telling stories and I don’t like being an executive. That’ll mean I need a CEO eventually, and it won’t be me. I’ll need sales people eventually, and they won’t be me either. I’m going to stick to telling stories for the foreseeable future, because it’s what I like to do, and it’s what I’m good at.
I miss you too, and we’ll be back together soon enough, just give me some time here to figure everything out, and we’ll get back together asap.
Love ya!
Monday… Swear!
Hey,
So we figured out how to solve most of our technological problems (All except how to handle the scripting) and we’re going to be back starting next monday morning. Come hell or high water, we’re going to make it happen. Promise.
Thanks for sticking with us!
Randall
Where we’re @!
We’ve been gone moving into our new office, and with that we’ve got a new strategy and a new way to approach the show. Peep the vid for a quick tour of our office from my iSight camera, which we’ll have later today.
Moving day!
We’re moving, so no show today!
Raging against the machines
So we’ve had our share of computer problems over the last twelve hours, so we’re calling it a day. Send some tips our way if you’ve got em!
Weekend Update two
Hey! Thought I’d update you on what’s going on. Good news! I got the coming up strip and the breaking news strip implemented successfully. The bad news? It’s at the expense of the “New” sticker. Ultimately, I think the coming up bar and breaking news bar are more important, but if I ever figure out what the problem was, I’ll get it workin.
PS– Those of you showing concern after the seizure, THANK YOU! I’m doing fine, and will be back monday.
New site features, and the future
Yo y’all! So the bad news: We didn’t end up moving into our offices today, thanks to some unforeseen emergency meeting with the bigwigs. The good news? We started doing our “real show” today, and did a morning cycle that turned out pretty positive. Since we weren’t moving, Randall spent some time behind the scenes to get two more things ready for eventualities: Coming Up and Breaking News strips. They won’t appear always, and they shouldn’t be too annoying, but they’ll serve their purpose, which is to let you know why there isn’t fresh content going up right this second.
Thanks for sticking with us, it’ll all be ready to go here shortly.
Meta for today
We stepped outside the headlines, and into something a little more comfortable. Randall wanted to show you around his pad before we move into our posh new offices on Friday. Enjoy!
